Lagos State Government Shuts Down all Schools in the State due to the ongoing #Endsars protest in the state.
This was announced by the state commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo on Monday, 19 October during a press briefing. She stated that the safety of pupils, students, staff, and parents was paramount to the government at a sensitive time as this. Lagos State Government Shuts Down all Schools in the State
The ministry whose duty is For effective administration of education policies in Lagos State, we have the Ministry of Education ably supported by the Office of the Special Adviser, having Honourable Commissioner and Special Adviser respectively as the head, with the support of the Permanent Secretary.
Lagos State also championed the creation of Education Districts, and we have professional Teachers as Tutor-General/Permanent Secretaries in all our 6 Districts to monitor and administer the day to day running of schools under their districts from Primary to Senior Secondary levels.
The following Departments and Units are saddled with various responsibilities, Finance and Administration, Planning, Research and Statistics, Science and Technology, Curriculum Services, Examination Board, Private Education and Special Programmes, Basic Education Services, Inspectorate, Education Resource Centre, Accounts, Multi-lingual Centre, Projects, Public Affairs, ICT and Procurement Units.
Consequent to this, all pupils and students of both private and public schools, have been advices to stay at home following the tension generated by the anti-SARS protest.
The commissioner also disclosed that a new resumption date would be announced as soon as possible.
