Ibidapo-Obe extremely reliable, totally dependable, says Afe Babalola. THE founding father of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola, mentioned on Wednesday that the late former Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, was extremely reliable and totally dependable whereas alive.

Oyewusi Ibidapo Obe (1949-2021) was a Nigerian professor of Systems Engineering instructional administrator and former Vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos. He died on the third of January 2021 from COVID-19 complication.
He attended Lagos Street African Church Primary School, Ebute-Metta (1955–1961) and Obokun High School/Ilesa Grammar School (1962–1966) and later attended Igbobi College, Yaba, (1966–1968) Lagos State, Nigeria for his secondary schooling. He acquired a bachelor’s diploma in Mathematics from the University of Lagos.

Ibidapo Obe was born on July 5, 1949, at Ile Ife, Osun State Nigeria. He served as a Visiting Research Associate Professor within the Department of Civil Engineering on the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA (1980–1981). In 2007, he was a Visiting Research Professor at Texas Southern University in Houston, USA. He was appointed because the Vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos within the yr 2000, succeeding Jelili Adebisi Omotola. He was later succeeded by Tolu Olukayode Odugbemi in 2007 after his profitable tenure

Babalola, who’s a former UNILAG Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, mentioned, “Apart from being academically sound, Prof. Ibidapo-Obe was an expert to the core.

“I have seen him at work and I have also seen him at play. I found him to be ever so cool, collected, respectful, cheerful, kind, selfless, committed, and incorruptible.”

The ABUAD founder made the disclosure in a ‘Tribute to Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe’ made accessible in Ado Ekiti.

He mentioned, “I was fortunate to have him as the VC during my tenure as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council. With the cooperation of the university management under his leadership and our ever-supportive Council, we recorded a lot of milestone achievements during my seven-year tenure.”
