NYSC to ensure the protection of North-East corps members, staff. State Coordinators of the National Youth Service Corps in the North East have been enjoined to enhance the security and welfare of both corps members, staff in the region.
Speaking during a maiden meeting with State Coordinators, Director North-East Area office, Baba Ladan, also urged them to show deliberate efforts in consolidating on issues bonding the NYSC in the Zone.
Ladan stressed the need to ensure ways of strengthening working relationships within the rank and file.
He said, “The meeting will identify ways of promoting grassroots relevance of the scheme in order to reinvigorate Community Development Service and NYSC outreaches.
“We would rub minds on enhanced welfare, safety and security of corps members and staff, review some salient issues in policy implementation, deliberate on ways of imbibing good leadership qualities, a guide to building confidence and patriotism in subordinate offices for effective service delivery, and evaluate the performance of secretariats, operational strategies, expected outcomes and challenges.”
While commending them for timely efforts in piloting the affairs of the scheme in their various states, Ladan called on them to take advantage of the Director-General‘s Five points Policy Thrust to offer suggestions that would ensure the sustainability of the Area Office in various areas of its operations.
He added, “The responsibilities of Area offices is to ensure the unity of the command, provide efficient monitoring, strengthening of operational, and administrative effectiveness of the Scheme at the grassroots level in order to reduce the workload of the Secretariats through decentralization process.”
